BEYOND TALK THERAPY

BEYOND TALK THERAPY

Is it frustrating for you when people tell you to “just let it go” or “be kinder to yourself”?

As if there were some switch you could flip…if you just weren’t so stubborn / clueless / goofy.

First up: there is no such switch. (If there were, someone would have patented it by now).

Second up: suggestions like this, no matter how well-intentioned, almost never work. They can also leave us feeling frustrated and like failures.

Real talk: self-compassion and emotional healing are trickier than most people (or cutesy magnets) would have you believe.

That’s because that well-intentioned bartender you’re opening up to (or your Mom or even sometimes your therapist) has swallowed some myths about therapy and personal growth.

Myth: Just talk through why you feel this way and you problem will vanish.

Truth: Real healing takes more than head-knowing. It’s a whole-bodied affair.

Myth: “Holding a supportive space” is enough to facilitate healing and growth.

Truth: Most of us were never taught how to navigate (not just manage) our emotions and inner parts. Transformation goes leap years faster when we learn how to do it. That’s where I come in.

Myth: You’ll sit on my couch and I, the all-knowing therapist, will wave my magic Freud wand and you’ll feel better.

Truth: You are the ultimate authority on your experience and healing. I’m here to teach you how to develop a collaborative relationship with yourself. Even with those young, wounded parts of you that tell you to procrastinate or lash out or numb your feelings with deep-fried Snickers bars.

We need less analyzing, more feeling. Less head, more heart and body.

Most therapy fails because it stays in our heads (and stories about things) and doesn’t get down into the good, messy, real stuff: into our bodies and hearts and intuition.

That’s why I use a totally different, embodied approach for issues such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Addiction
  • Anger problems
  • Life transitions
  • Overwhelm and burnout
  • Perfectionism
  • Identity issues
  • Relationship issues

I also specialize in eating disorders and our relationship with food and body — see here for more.

I work best with sensitive rebels and high achievers craving more connection, sovereignty, and oomph.

Our modern world is so out of balance, many of us are starving for connection: to the Earth, to each other, and to ourselves.

Sure, venting’s nice. But I’m here to help you heal.

I teach the embodied, emotional skills that revolutionized healing for myself and many of my clients to help you:

  • Heal inner pain and emotional wounds
  • Cultivate a relationship with your internal experience
  • Repair relationships with yourself, the Earth, and others, which nourish your life force
  • Liberate stuck energy, so you can engage more fully in life
  • Relaaaaaaaaax, truly recharge without numbing, and enjoy calm and inner peace
  • Turn on your power and passion so you can bring your gifts to the world.

There’s no magic switch for personal growth.

Real transformation takes work. You have to show up, be willing, and take ownership of your own process. But I’ll show you the way and walk it with you.

As we go, you’ll get more than a sympathetic nod or pithy quotable or fried Snickers bar. You’ll get access to a whole wider, deeper realm of healing. You’ll get access to YOU.

And that, my friend, is pretty incredible.

If you’re excited by this (even if a little nervous), I’d love to show you what’s possible.
